writing workshop and retreat
with KIRSTEN TRANTER and TRISHA PENDER
JUNE 10-16, 2025
RELAIS DE CAMONT, SOUTHwest FRANCE
Spend a week with us in early summer at Relais de Camont, an 18th century farmhouse turned creative residency in southwest France, run by renowned author, chef and cooking teacher, Kate Hill. Participate in tailored workshops, group viewings and conversation; find a quiet corner of the kitchen garden to write in;meet individually with your instructors; and sample the stunning seasonal produce of the region.
Work on bringing your own creative or critical project to life in the inspiring setting of southwest France. This intensive writing retreat will be led by award-winning novelist and essayist Kirsten Tranter, author of Hold (2016), A Common Loss (2011) and The Legacy (2010) and Associate Professor Trisha Pender (University of Newcastle), author of I’m Buffy and You’re History: Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Contemporary Feminism (2016) and Early Modern Women’s Writing and the Rhetoric of Modesty (2012).
This retreat is designed for writers seeking guidance with structuring a creative or critical project and getting words out of your head and onto the page. Daily workshops will guide writers through generative prompts designed to incite, inspire, and provoke imagination. Individual meetings with instructors will provide additional hands-on support for your individual project. Whether you are deep into your project or starting to pull ideas together, this workshop will provide freedom and space for it to take shape.
